We have to admit it in front: Cocoon loves Harvey
McKay! Already his Cocoon Recordings debut on the
"Dots & Pearls II" compilation has the finger on the
pulse, as it appears to us. Everything should be
more orientated to "beat one". McKay follows the
return to Techno and strong beats, and delivers a
hi-energy package that has no peer.
"Shake" is Techno at its best! Dub Techno elements
in a Basic-Channel-style meet kicking, masculine
beats as you may know most likely from Santos
releases, all united in the meanwhile typical McKay
style. McKay is the incarnate Techno beat, and
"Shake" is no exception! Given McKay's standards,
"Move" is almost a breather. Well, it's still equipped
with a mighty kick drum, but everything comes in a
little more tranquil. A new twist on McKay, if you
want, with a strong Detroit and Berlin flair. Urban,
dark, thoughtful and the matching soundtrack for
grey city skies on Sunday morning at 7:30h, on the
way home from Panoramabar.
With "Mind's Eye", Harvey McKay then returns to his
usual style. We hear a dark Tech-House piece with
crashy synth chords that remind of the big Slam
and Underworld hits. Great vocal samples round up
the rave reminiscence in a perfect way!
After years and years of this never ending House
revival, McKay presents three fat and peak-time-
suitable muscle tracks that transport only one
message: PAAAR-TAAAAY!
