Fans of Nu Disco will enjoy the deep, groove based textures of "Boogie Buffet" while "Miracle," features vocalist Lisa Shaw nestled into a soulful house gem with acoustic guitar that warms the song into a good-feeling ride.
"Celestial Voyage," is a romantic, guitar-led journey into the Deep House continuum.
"Believe" is an East Coast meets West Coast excursion as
Washington D.C. based Deborah Bond collaborates with Julius and his fellow Canadians Luis Machuca & Myles Bigelow (aka Deep Culture). Deborah's uplifting vocals complement this soulful journey, which is layered with warm analog synths, splashed with a dose of jazz guitar and featuring Myles live on percussion.
Jazz articulates on "Morning Finale," a sax driven, Broken Beat extravaganza while another Lisa Shaw performance is featured on "Way Back" (from Julius' last album), which is given new life courtesy of DJ Smash, as he takes you to Chicago via Brooklyn with a Mr. Fingers (Larry Heard) influenced interpretation.
NYC's Sole Channel maestro - Mr. V, makes an appearance on "Chicago Tribute," which is reminiscent of house music's roots (with a jazz twist) while being entirely relevant today. Mr. V's vocal riffs clearly reinforce that in both content and cadence.
The percussive, dance-floor attitude of "Never Let You Go," is perfect for that peak-time energy boost while the title track "Music Is The Key," completes the album rewinding itself to an 80's block party.
This album is a treat for dj's, dance-floors and tastemakers alike.
Enjoy the ride!
