Atapy is a a prominent producer with credits on labels like Bedrock and Get Physical. For his next outing the man, who has been active since 2010, pops up on well respected French label Thrill of It with a very tasty new four track EP entitled Black Bird.
Atapy has also remixed The xx, has worked with Noir and Cari Golden and, from his base in Bucharest, tours the world taking his hot house sounds to dancers everywhere. This new EP is only likely to win him more fans.
Up first, the title track is an upbeat bit of clean and crisp house with hypnotic percussive sounds and lush, beach guitar licks that really lend it a summery feel. Ego is then a more grubby, experimental affair with bass that sways to and fro, rocking on its heels, as big groaning chords bring a sense of menace to the groove.
Then comes Geist, which is a more peak time techno leaning cut with rubbery melody, rising pads and slick drums that all make for a fine sense of groove. Lastly, he serves up Triangle, which is full of synthetic sounds, mischievous spirits and dark claps. High pressure and pleasingly intense, it shows yet another side to the mans production.
Fresh and colourful, original and different than the norm, this is yet another great EP from the man like Atapy.
