Having DJ'ed all over Europe under the name DJ Lightening, Jay Aftermath explodes into the world of production with his debut release on Ghetto Dub, the Detonate E.P. Not wanting to be pigeon holed into any particular area within the plethora of sub-genres that makes up Drum & Bass, Jay has come with a 6 track EP that is bursting with different flavours and styles.
Kicking off with the title track: Detonate, which has been getting some serious rotation and was made straight for the dancefloor, Hard hitting basslines and hard hitting breaks. Next up is Kinetik - A jungle inspired tear out tune, choppy snappy amens blended with quick switching basslines. Metal Clasp - Another dancefloor inspired tune, simple bass and breaks made to do one thing and one thing only. Rat Bastard - A tune ode to the mid 2000's sound of DnB, which is what drew him into the music in the first place. A seriously heavy reese basslines layered over a pounding beat. Situation Untold is Jay's take on old school with its choppy amen breaks. And then finishing the EP off nicely with a track entitled Tidal wave - A nice little roller, something a bit deeper with more of a head nodding stepper vibe.
Look out for more from Jay Aftermath, coming soon on Ghetto Dub.
