Mobi Dixon became a mainstay of South Africa’s house music scene in 2014, following the release of his singles “Love Colour Spin” and “City Rains.” Born Mabi Ntuli in East London in 1986, Dixon first got his start by winning a remix contest in 2008. Since that moment, Dixon has carved out his particular style of bright, melody-draped productions. Featuring Indigenous percussion styles and vocals, 2014’s Tribal Soul and 2016’s Live the Music seamlessly meld deep-tribal house with Afrocentric influences. His third studio album, 2018’s 10 Steps Forward, is filled with impressive guest appearances and club-ready bangers, while 2020’s The Chapel incorporated spiritual messages into his work. His impact extends beyond his own output. As an executive, Dixon founded Top Chap Media, which has been responsible for releasing work from artists such as Nichume and Blomzit Avenue.
