Juan Carlos Fernández, also known as "Guonka", is a DJ, Producer and Audio Engineer born in San Jose, Costa Rica, who currently resides in London, United Kingdom.
The name "Guonka" originates thanks to his nickname "Juanca", which was commonly confused by foreigners so much that he decided to use his incorrect pronunciation “won-ka" as his official artistic alias, using sounds of Dubstep, Drum & Bass, and Garage to represent himself.
In just his short career, Guonka has performed in world-renowned venues such as Ministry of Sound Club, EGG London, Electric Brixton, and many more... supporting acts such as Flux Pavilion, Delta Heavy, Feed Me, A-Track , Sam Divine, Tough Love, MJ Cole, Secondcity, Josh Butler, Doorly, and many other names to mention. In 2018 Guonka makes his debut at the "Chepe Joven" festival, with an estimated crowd of 25,000 people.
Guonka has also appeared in several of London’s well-known radio stations such as Reprezent, Select Radio UK, The Beat London, House 559 Music, and has also hosted his own radio show "Nightfall Sounds" at EGM Electro.
After graduating from SAE Institute and being mentored by Tony Friend former member of “Modestep”, Guonka releases several singles and EP’s with different labels such as Westwood Recordings, Fatstep, and Teknofonic Records.
