Bio:

As a youngster, Australian artist James Wells-Wilson (aka Crazy Daylight) grew up in rural New South Wales in a small town of with a population of around 5000 people. Named Bellingen, the community has a reputation for breeding creative children and whether it’s the water, the beautiful countryside or the alternative “hippy” culture, there’s a strong sense of musical enthusiasm within. Locals currently organise 4 major music festivals per year as well as numerous small-scale events. James recalls,“In the year 2000 around my mid teens I discovered rave parties which were most frequently run by the Rebels and Nomads bike gangs at their club houses back t hen. This was my int roduct ion t o elect ronic music events and the catalyst for a 10 year exploration through breaks, drum and bass, psy- trance and electro house. More recently I’ve become hooked on dubstep and glitch hop.”“From age 5 I would wat ch rage on t v every weekend and growing up through the 90’s the cheesy retro and rave sounds from the period are engrained in my psyche. I think that’s pretty obvious if you listen to a Crazy Daylight track.”Many of Crazy Daylight’s sets are a live musical performance with vocals, keyboards, drum pads and glitch modules. In a scene where the word “live” is loosely used to describe DJs triggering a few clips in Ableton and turning a few effect knobs, Crazy Daylight has set a different standard for live electronic music performances.“I try to provide people with the spontaneity and interactive elements of a live band, while maintaining the techy complexity that makes electronic music great. I love performing live vocals, because thats when I feel most connected to the music and the audience.”This is seriously, funked up electronic music with crunchy bass lines, glitched out vocals and a twisted mash of melodic and heavy dancefloor grooves. It’s a unique and immediately recognizable style that fuses big, gritty digital bass with retro synths and consistently punchy production. With styles spanning through glitch hop, dubstep and electro, there is also a subtle pop influence in the music. Crazy Daylight is a reference to all the good times, all the loose times, the surreal... and the unreal fun and most hilarious things that happen when the sun comes up after a night (or two) of partying and the party keeps on rollin’. Nothing is serious, everyone is in a state of stupidity, then the fun really begins... Get onit... Get Crazy...“After a disheartening lack of interest from record labels I released my debut ep “Maximise the Rig” independent ly on Band Camp. Ironically in t he coming weeks I received a flood of offers from record labels.”The album was re-released with Simplify Recordings 6 weeks later where it peaked at seventh on the Addictech charts for the month and “Black Jack” made it to thirteenth on the beatport glitch hop singles chart .
