The rumours are true'four years on from 'Up', their last Hi-Phi release and the Balearic monster that was 'Second', IPG are back. The International Peoples Gang are Martyn Watson and Ric Peet: first generation punk and electro-kid respectively. Their shared heritage, hazy memories and passion for all things ace ensure that the noise that they make defies lazy categorisation; unafraid of melody, structure and harmonic detail, it contains echoes of everything and yet remains uniquely IPG. Electrorganic, beat-free, blissful textures and dubby grooves give way to experiments in 'musique concrete' whilst subtle vocal stylings morph into crunching, guitar-driven disco show stoppers. 'Non Genre Specific is where we're at' says Martyn. A determination to create music that knows no boundaries has resulted in a series of beguiling releases since their classic debut '3395' (Wire Magazine's album of the year on the seminal em:t imprint) redefined ambient music. Collaborations with Is It Balearic, Begin and International Feel are now hinting at a shift of focus from headspace to poolside and, in part, the rumours are true. This release features 2 new tracks PS & Saffron and the wonderful Coyote have been drafted in to add some of their Balearic grooves to Saffron....
