Karz hails from Belarus and started his career back in 2008. Since then he has released on this label as well as Binary404, Naked Lunch and Italo Business and has had his tunes played by the likes of Dubfire, Richie Hawtin and Paco Osuna amongst others.
Up first, Help Me is a solid techno roller with alien sound effects, over sized hi hats and nice rolling groove that sucks you in over and over. Textured perc peels off the groove and smooth synths add a real sense of soul and scale to this high pressure track.
The remix is by Sleaze Records boss Hans Bouffmyhre. Hans used to run his own party - also called Sleaze - in Glasgow, releases as Secluded and has put out his Jeff Mills like techno on labels such as 8 Sided Dice, Analytic Trail and Perc Trax. The remix is a more heady, minimal affair that is stripped back to a rubbery kick whilst frictionless, percussive rotations help glide the groove along in irresistible fashion. Its a real dead of night, back room bomb as a result.
Finally, Fright is the other original and is one that rocks on its heels, with chilly hi hats, rattling and rippling dub techno chords rolling out in all directions and stiff metallic hooks colouring the drums. Explosions of white noise and incendiary pads all add yet more layers of drama to this monstrous cut.
Gene Karz and !Organism make for a fine techno pairing, as this EP proves once again.
