2011 heralds the arrival of some highly talented artists, as we deliver our third annual compilation introducing Fresh Meat to the Mad Hatter Recordings stable.

Sam.U.L.'s Moosebumps introduces the compilation with its steely tribal beat and stuttered vocal sample. The track then shifts into a futuristic percussive loop, which although insistent at first seems to drip away before kicking back in again.

By contrast Jonno Brien's Need Ju has a warm Morales style vibe bordering on soulful house with teasing vocal snatches set to a bombastic beat. The vocal sample is euphoric and when it kicks in at full at full effect is a revelation that really elevates the tune to another level.

Snappa's Valdsam returns again to the tribal beat template. A highly atmospheric composition you can hear subtle grinding sounds, watery textures and airy pads weave their deep way into your subconscious. The track culminates in a chiming loop that takes forefront in the soundscape dark and ominous it wouldn't sound amiss on a sci-fi film score.

The compilation is rounded off by Fabian Jakopetz & Dub Way's Deepwater Horizon, a tight industrial groove that stutters and shuffles, building steadily, dropping to a simple beat and rising again like a sonic ocean wave of sound. Scratchy synths, white noise and square leads create a deep tech house ultimately creating a submersive experience.
