For years, Copout has been active in the respective electronic undergrounds of Philadelphia and New York - accumulating a handful of releases, both solo and collaborative. His approach to music, forged from the dissimilarity between his rural beginnings and current metropolitan whereabouts, renders a sound individual in its acute sense of space and pressure therewithin. Elements of the natural and expansive world are spliced with those of one that is constantly built and surveyed. On this premiere outing for Purple Tape Pedigree, Copout's third EP, a story of conflict is woven as these divergent environments meet in the same subconscious space and propagate opposing energies, hence Forces.

Playing like an exploration of stimulation versus constriction, Forces builds a narrative through zero gravity melodies intermingling with the rhythm grid. Harmonious walls of Vangelis-like cyber dreamscapes are thrust into motion, or tugged apart, by a system of plunging sub bass, robust kicks and splashing metallics ("Helix," "Enough"). Whether hollow and atonal ("Stressed") or collapsing into a blood-dealt pulse referencing the South African gqom counter-beat ("Fallen"), the 4-track sequence is meditative in its paranoia. Components push and pull for significance, colliding like a laser light show of subliminal messages. Recommended for when you are watching the pieces of your vehicle's exterior burn away while trying to outrun the gaze of a constellation or a crippling memory. This is music sculpted through the shock of constant surveillance.
