Music for love, music for life, music to empower. It was Summer 2020. In the desert town of Ibiza near the old market, the Italian dj and producer RSDJ was drinking and relaxing in a little bar, and the German artist Zwette was doing the same at a table nearby. They were the only two customers at that noon hour; getting to know each other was inevitable and talking about music even more so. RSDJ started talking about a new song he was working on and let Zwette listen to it. Intrigued by the African sounds giving him good vibes, Zwette discovered Malaika, one of the most famous Swahili love songs from Adam Salim (1945).

Music can connect, and it has the power to make change. EGO is proud to present a unique project promoting a mission of solidarity and love, created by RSDJ and Zwette and benefiting nonprofit organization
A percentage of all proceeds from the remix of Malaika will be donated to the foundation with the aim to support future activities for education, unity, and empowerment.

Music is a huge part of life at Malaika, founded in 2007 by Noella Coursaris Musunka, ambassador of Global Fund against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and among the most influential and inspirational women of 2017 for BBC.
Malaika, impacting thousands of lives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) through education, health and community programs, has become the beating heart of the Kalebuka community as a fully functioning ecosystem comprising a free, accredited school that provides an all-encompassing education to 370 girls; a community center that offers a range of programs to 5,000 youth and adults; a clean water program with 20 wells that services over 30,000 people each year; a sustainable agricultural program that helps provide two nutritious meals each day to students and staff. Malaika is a model that can be replicated to bring opportunity and hope throughout Africa and the world.
Combining the force that is Malaika's global family with artists and music with a message to uplift is sure to spark change and gain momentum.

"The past 10 years at Malaika have totally changed my life. I have learned things that have helped me become aware of my role as a woman in society and that have encouraged me not to stay behind. I dream of one day becoming a computer network engineer, and through Malaika I hope to get there." Louise Mujinga, 4th Secondary
