Lo-Fi-45s top dog KAYMID introduces KARLISLE to the fold with their collaborations on this two track EP.
KARLISLE, aka Steph Yeah is the founder of Niceweird and a regular fixture on the Melbourne techno and house scene. From pushing deep groovin minimal to laying down something of a more tech house nature, the diversity of his musical tastes complimented by an interest for wild, natural sounds and the traditional music styles of the world help this dance floor protagonists tunes to achieve his desired level of an eclectic, tribal and at times slightly zany atmosphere.
Like an audio house of mirrors, Kingfisher has twists and turns that will give your brainwaves a good stretch. Weaving its way through warped, fragmented vocals that stay with you long after theyve faded out, guided by strong percussive corridors and slow slinky bass, this track sets up a strong connection in which these two producers come out to play in the soundscape wonderland theyve created.
Bad Wizard takes you on a treacherous journey into the labyrinth. Haunted synths and delirious whispers fold into each other until they become one. Layers of wood percussion trickle in and the echoes of skin drum hits open portals into the realm of the Bad Wizard where youre under his spell. Deep under its cloak, the magic and mystery of this enchanting, eleven minute odyssey keeps you intrigued at every turn.
