Named after the tea that Steve Lawler hooked him on, the 'Tea Pig EP' is some of Tom Flynn's most forward thinking work to date.
The evident complexity of this record, the fifth outing on Into Orbit, show just where Tom's level of producer flow is at right now. Blending deep space ideas and electronic music together, both tracks encompass a shift away from peak time dance floor records that Tom is so well known for.
Side A's 'Tea Pig' is an expressive workout of counter melodies gently gliding over polyrhythmic synthesisers, creating a lush landscape of future electronica.
'These are records i recorded in late night studio experiments, blending guitars, synthesisers and live instruments together, that was always my goal with this sort of music, to just experiment and see'
On the B-side, 'Escape To New York' shines psychedelic guitar tones through a chasm of sultry beats, backed by it's loosely swung bass that pulls the whole track together.
Both tracks retain that flowing flexibility that make listening to them intriguing as much as it is a pleasure.
