Rip Riley, born in 1972, started at an early age in live instruments. Learning guitar from an uncle, Rip soon realized music was in his heart, mind, and soul. In the early years of his life, his musical interests were more along the lines of classic rock and heavy metal. He grew up around the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and the like. As time progressed, Rip's tastes in music evolved. During high school, in the late 80's, he enjoyed bands like Slayer and Metallica, as well as the emergence of the Euro-pop movement. The years following high school, His interests turned to alternative and punk until (about) 1995, when EDM really started taking off in the USA. One thing is for certain, regardless of all other musical interests, being a child in the 80's and the birth of Euro-pop, no matter what, all through his history, R.R. had a fondness for electronically produced music. Coincidentally, his first ever experience that involved mixing two records together, happened at a high school friends house whose father was a wedding DJ. Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" and Berlin's "Sex". If you ask him, "It was probably the most horrible mix ever on the entire planet of earth", but that moment, the two records spinning, the moving of the crossfader, and hearing the blend... that was the seed that was planted in him that would not sprout until some ten years later. In the past, Rip spun records in the Pensacola area, under the name Maxwell Smart, with great success. One of Rip's first public gigs was opening for one of the founders of Drum&Bass, Grooverider. He soon enjoyed a residency at the areas only venue for EDM, an after-hours club named Bedlam. The gig lasted for over two years when the owners decided to change formats and hire new residents. Rip also played many large events traveling to Orlando, FL, Panama City, FL Mobile, AL and Biloxi, MS as well as many raves and parties in and around the town he resides. However, it was not long after his residency ended that one thing led to another (another person that is). Being a father, for him, had to take front seat, and thus, left no time for the late night fun that surrounds the EDM scene. As time went by, his family started to fall apart, and Rip soon found himself on his own again. In 2012, he felt a burning inside him like never before. It was time again, to step back into the realm of music. However, this time, Rip is more focused on production than DJ'ing. That's not to say he does not enjoy DJing by evidence of the many great full length mixes available for download
