Rafael M (aka DJ Rafael Mesa) was the co-owner of the iconic LA-Based American DJ shop Prime Cuts Records in Hollywood for 15 years. Prime Cuts was the first store to open on the West Coast dedicated exclusively dance music. From 1994-2008, DJ Rafael Mesa was resident staple, holding court at many of LA’s largest gay clubs and parties including Rage, Factory, The Abbey, Probe, Red Eye After hours, Arena, Circus Disco, Here Bari, and The Palace. After closing Prime Cuts in 2002 as so many did after the aftermath of Napster and other file-sharing piracy sites, Mesa started the indie dance label (Fresh Music LA) and had 4 releases chart on Billboard Club Play chart as well as having a # 1 Billboard Club Play single with Erin Hamilton
