Alex Maier has awaken from his winter sleep in snowy Stuttgart and delivered another 2 tracker for his favourite label. Dark Love takes on where his last release Sahara Rain left, moving floors is the main theme here. No frills techy house injected with some early techno and Detroit influences, this is definately his finest work to date. Dark Love starts dark and nasty, moving into stabby techno territory before dropping some sweet piano chords towards the end, the crisp production keeping the flow steady. Lemon Popsicle needs no introduction, being heavily featured on labels like Rebirth, BluFin, Dieb Audio and Fresh Meat in the last months with their various projects. They strip the essence of Dark Love and inject a heavy dose of House love to it, transforming the original vibe to a funk-fuelled floor burner keeping the piano element as main hook and adding their fine keyboard work to add a sling of soul into the soup. On Homeless shows Maier in deep techno mode with fine acid lines guiding the way for a monster dub groove with heavy low-end and fine synth workout for a 10 minute climax.
