James hails from Essex but has travelled most of his life living in various cities and countries. James has been involved with the music scene since the early 90’s as a DJ playing at variety of major clubs and raves up and down the country, Raindance, Fantazia, Cream & Dreamscape to name a few. The rave scene was only the beginning of his musical adventure.It was only a matter of time before James moved into production. Coming from the rave and jungle scene he started producing drum and bass in the late 90’s as one half of “The Outfit” a successful drum and bass production duo that has had over 20 releases including singles, EP’s and album tracks on most of the premier drum & bass labels. Their biggest achievement being when they reached the number three position in the dance charts. The late John Peel was a avid fan of 'The Outfit' supporting they're music on BBC Radio 1.As a DJ, James has played at many of the top clubs throughout the UK including Fabric, The End, Ministry Of Sound, Bar Rumba, as well as DJ’ing across Europe and America. James has also hosted and played on BBC 1Xtra, Ministry Of Sound, and Kiss FM.James wanted to produce other genres of electronic music, using the elements of house, 80's, funk & soul, garage, bass and beats, this is when he started producing under his new guise 'Rubix'. To be free from constraints James setup 'White Horse Records' in 2011.Rubix aims are simple, to produce quality electronic music and perform it live to the masses. Rubix has released 1 album, 5 EP's and currently 7 singles. He has gained support from many parts of the globe as well as National airplay and support from major publications like DJ Magazine.
