Denisa Stanislav and Dr H have decided to make a tribute for the 40's anniversary of this masterpiece. They have revisited Gainsbourg's concept in the album 'Unfinished Melody', mostly motivated by the observation that lyrics in house music were often limited (when existing), and were hardly never telling a story.
'Unfinished Melody' tells a love story between a Parisian man, bored with life as claimed in 'J'en ai marre' (I am fed up in French), and a tourist visiting Paris. They meet on Place Vendome (which is know world wide for selling diamonds and luxury items) as described in 'Two on Place Vendome', and fall in love passionately in the track 'High Time'. She decides to get back to her country, despite this intense love, doubting about the sincerity of the man, resulting in a suicide of her lover (track 'Ne pars pas' or don't leave me in French). She cries her dead lover in 'Golden Lips'.
Denisa Stanislav has written most of the lyrics and her unique and wonderful voice gives a tragic intensity to the album. Dr H has composed the music and the lyrics in french, trying to keep a club like sound. The idea, and we believe it is the first time it is done, was to have house and techno music exploring new frontiers, by adding to those great music styles some kind of poetry.
We hope that you will share the same pleasure listening to this album that the authors had to build it.
