Tunnel Vision, the new release by California-based electro-pop powerhouse POPPET, begins with an innocent chimes melody before quickly developing into a fully-orchestrated lament over love lost and paths not taken. POPPET's eclectic cross-training, ranging from western classical to jazz to choral to Hindustani (Northern Indian classical tradition) to Gamelan (Indonesian classical ensemble music), comes together in Tunnel Vision to generate a wondrously organic sound, blending carefully crafted lo-fi arrangement and rumbling rhythms; dark strings and jolting beats. While the influence of power soloists Kate Bush and Bjork are clear, POPPET's sound is anything but derivative. With the release of Tunnel Vision, POPPET delivers a compelling follow-up to her full length album "The Blue Sky is Always Blue" (Bicycle Records, Olympia, WA, 2013), establishing herself as one of the most original voices in indie electronica.
