The Tribe of Fire EP, a House of West project by singer-producer-DJ Brandon Lucas, features the musings of the lauded contemportary American philosopher and political activist Dr. Cornel West. The project includes two house records — "My Tribe", a collaboration that includes dance/electronic artists Afriqua and Life on Planets, infuses funk and soul over Afro-House and features Dr. West's notable teachings around W.E.B DuBois's writings on the darkness of the human condition and the hope therein. "Fire" is a Brandon Lucas / Mark Cole co-produced house anthem which is a funk-inspired commentary on James Baldwin's classic book "The Fire Next Time". This EP previews the upcoming House of West album — a curated project by Brandon Lucas that intends to illustrate how house and techno are a part of the Black musical tradition, through collaborative works centered around Dr. West's scholarship and teachings on hope, love and justice for the most suffering.
