Protect and Serve is the new label from established DJ and Producer Balls Deep. Previous incarnations have seen him working under the name [sic] through his 'mu-sic' imprint. After a years hiatus (he's been busy writing his memoirs!), it's good to see Balls Deep aka Dan Jeffries get back into the producer's chair, and what a way to make a comeback with his first release, 'The Order'.

If deep house had been born in a monastery, this is the tune that would have been playing at the christening. 'The Order' is full of delicious textures that will tantalise your eardrums, from the soothing monastic vocal chants to the live bass, from the driving stab melody right through to the luscious strings and pads. But don't think this is a laid back affair; the groove behind 'The Order' is truly infectious, and it's a tune guaranteed to get dance floors moving, whatever time of the night you choose to drop it.

On remix duty we welcome Materia, still riding high after his hugely successful Atlas LP on Slime Recordings. He brings his own flavour to the proceedings with a more downtempo affair, elegantly teasing out the baseline and key melodies whilst injecting his own trademark sounds into the mix. It pays wonderful homage to the vibes of the original.
