The title track,"Telephone," is a playful, sexually-charged fusion of shuffling beats, deep bass and diced up vocals. NEWBODY seek to blend their influences of old school New Jack Swing and more contemporary 2-Step Garage for an undeniable retro-futuristic sensibility.
As a bouncy, four to the floor Vocal House track featuring warm R&B chords and lush harmonies, "Why" offers some romantic relief from the driving energy of "Telephone." However, its higher BPM allows it to feel just as at home on a peak time dance floor.
Lastly, on "D.G.A.D." NEWBODY take an eccentric approach to house music by eliminating the drums and simply leaving well placed finger snaps to keep the rhythm. This leaves the fat Roland Juno bass, assertive lyrics, and punchy M1 Piano as the main focal points for the track. "D.G.A.D." serves as an anthemic cool down for the E.P. while keeping its consistent uptempo pace.
