Talented label boss Mr. Mitch returns to the fore to present the sixth release from his exciting Gobstopper Records imprint, his first solo outing on the label since the release of 'The Last Stand' back in March. Following a slew of great feedback on both 'Tash Wax', a track heavily backed by Rinse stalwarts Brackles and Seb Chew and recently vocalled by MIK as part of his 'Exhibits' series, and 'Super Freak', a weighty, low-end cut more representative of Mitch's work on his 'Searching' compilations, the two are to form an exceptionally polished and well-balanced EP. Aided by recent appearances on Just Jam and his debut at Butterz vs Hardrive in July, GOB006 is the work of a producer with the bit between his teeth. As demonstrated by MIK's willingness to vocal 'Tash Wax', despite Mitch's versatile, at times experimental style, he is certainly no stranger to producing excellent grime to suit more conventional tastes. Tash Wax itself builds quickly after a short, menacing introduction, with a searing bass line cutting through some clever synth work and trademark futuristic sampling to create an indisputably heavyweight 140 cut. Super Freak on the other hand, leans more towards classic hip-hop but still carries grimy swagger by the bucketload; powerful bass lines reverberate throughout whilst haunted choral sampling provides a near-demonic backdrop to give the title 'Super Freak' added significance.
