Andrew Tytherleigh used to record for Paper Recordings under his own name. Later he changed his artist name to Hubtone and delivered a fine album called Interiors. The biggest cut on that album for us was that damn cool Hot Muffin which was originally released as limited edition on Repap in the late 90s, when Andrew was still recording under his own name. It was one of Gerds fave jerky disco-funk tracks and therefore he approached Andy to do a re-release. Hot Muffin came in a special Gerd edit which was huge amongst deejays such as Richard Dorfmeister, Jimpster, Tom Wieland, etc.

Now Andrew is working with a full band and this ep is the result of that. Hotwax is a cool mesmerizing funk track with groovy bass, live drums and weird spacey synths. Squelch is an excellent pfunk tune with all the funky stabs and phat leads. Dexter the mad scientist is a beautiful jazz funk track with live drums, Rhodes solos and snippets from Andrews favourite cartoon character Dexter.

On the b-side Amplified Orchestra come with two amazing reworks of the funky Squelch tune. The first is an uptempo disco-flavoured banger in the style of Metro Area, Daniel Wang and the like. The second is a wicked mid-tempo funk version with lots of craziness.
