Illectrix ventured into music from a young age, taking classical piano lessons by day while staying up all night listening to the old soul, funk & psychedelic rock cassettes that he had discovered in a dusty box up in the attic. This love of music soon developed into a full-blown obsession, leading him to take up every instrument he could get his hands on, and before long he had started producing his own music using an old 8-track recorder and sharing it for free through the internet. Eventually he caught the electronic music bug while living in the USA for a few years, and shortly after moving back to England he started releasing bass-heavy music that quietly made its way into clubs and underground raves from London to New York, and all over the rest of the world. Illectrix has since set out on a mission to put the 'M' back into 'EDM', combining live instrumentation along with chopped samples and glitchy bass to create his unique, funky and hard hitting sound - pulling in elements of soul, funk-rock, jazz and blues, and then smashing them together with the raw and gritty bass-driven sounds of electro, glitch-hop and hip-hop. In 2014 he independently released his well-received debut album 'Digital Evolution', racking up 2 number one spots in the glitchhop.net charts, and also made it available for free - as Illectrix puts it: "It is the evolution of freedom and individualism - the release of musical expression and creativity from the shackles of consumerism and commercialisation that drive so much of the music we hear today."
