Terminus Audio's catalog begins fittingly with label boss LXVI's "Rift Sequence". The EP also features remixes from Virulent as well as DaGeneral and Nico Kohler. The original track is fueled by an urgent, high-octane synth line that brings to mind visions of a funky yet dystopian Cyberpunk future - with running sixteenth note hi-hats and rolling snares riding shotgun. Pedal to the metal till the gas runs out, this is a must have for any Techno enthusiast. The first remix on the package finds Virulent at the controls, who can recently be heard in the selections and podcasts of tastemakers such as Slam and Audio Injection. The result is both moody and menacing - without compromising the groove of course. Sleekly executed edits, crisp claps, fluttering effects and a driving bass line ensure that this track will find its way into the arsenal of the most discerning Techno connoisseur. Finally we have the UK's DaGeneral and Nico Kohler - both accomplished producers in their own right - joining forces for their take on "Rift Sequence". This one is definitely fit for the big room - stripped down but large and in charge. A prominent ride cymbal and bubbling percussion accentuate a dark and plodding groove, culminating in a massive breakdown that will be working many a crowd into a sweat before the summer is over.
Out July 1st on Terminus Audio.
