DJ Ino - Remember Me EP (Republic Music 004) 1. Remember Me 2. Remember Me (Steven Garcia's Total Recall Mix) 3. So Lovely 4. Where Is My Gin? A true champion of underground music in Spain, DJ Ino brings his eclecticism, soulful sensibility and cheeky production flair to Republic Music's fourth release. Known for his strong output in a range of styles from deep house to jazz and funk on his own A Coruna-based House Cafe Music label, Ino has kept music heads rocking at festivals and weeklies all over Spain and Europe for years. His Remember Me EP is a homecoming of sorts, reuniting Ino with his longtime allies from the Funky Soul Rebel crew. He's come up with something special for the occasion, a weird and wonderful set of tracks that showcase Republic's aim to take the house sound in new directions. The title track kicks off with an old school-style electro-garage jam that would get any dancefloor stomping. But you're guaranteed to pause and listen when the track suddenly takes a trip out to the wild West: layered over the groove is a sentimental spoken-word poem from a mysterious, deep-throated cowboy reminiscing about love and honeysuckle and sagebrush. It's as emotional as it is unusual like a soundtrack from some rodeo romance set in a funky future dreamscape and it's an absolute trip. Next up is a crucial remix from Steven Garcia, who turned heads with his stellar re-work of Tangerine Dream's "Love on a Real Train" for Republic 003 last month. Garcia contributes a typically intricate and jazz-infused bit of tech-funk, taking this cosmic Western further out into the stratosphere. The remaining two tracks, "So Lovely" and "Where Is My Gin?" are instrumentals that show Ino in control of the groove, staying in a future-retro mode with garagey deep house featuring powerful basslines, organically layered drum arrangements and highly emotive strings. Remember Me is one remarkably fresh and original EP that won't be forgotten soon....
