The second EP of Magnea follows the same concept as the first EP “700” and presents one original song produced by Berlin-based, Iranian artist and producer Maral Salmassi with three remixes. “Profil” has a strong pop appeal of '90s club music but keeps it fresh through the cinematic and glitchy percussion elements, elegantly arranged over the entire track. The beat is a tribute to the New York vogue ball culture with a consistent two-note bass line, layered with abstract glitchy sounds and a fat ‘90s house lead synth, topped with Magneas celestial voice. What particularly stands out are the sharp lyrics of Profile ‘Would you want me like you want the shadow of my profile’ she sings memorably at the climax of the song. The symbolism is clear and like Frank Ocean she encourages complete abstraction trusting the listener. This seems to be a reoccurring element in Magneas approach, even though following known arrangement forms of pop, she leaves space for interpretation. The choice of remixers is as divers as on the first EP “700”, creating a verity of interpretations expanding into other relevant genres. Kali aka Maral Salmassi revisits the song as a remixer and creates a mighty lazer sword of a juke track using only the vocals and percussion elements of the original song. Kalis remix affirms her interest in an almost cinematic experience adding and taking away layers in a profound manner.
