Revy, Revy, Revy... Were you born with the innate ability to communicate with aliens or is it something new you've been working on? Regardless, it's appears as if Revy aka Kevin Lind has synthesized complex natural systems on both on a micro and macrocosmic level into a sonic spaceship recording entitled Lucid Spark. Loosely operating within the framework of techno, this Pittsburgh based artist patiently weaves dense textures and cathartic rhythms with dreamlike tones and interplanetary synths. The Bleepsequence label owner brings us five original works of purely unique desert techno for late nights or early mornings under the stars. The title track kicks off the release with dubby psychedelia and a steppy kick. Quadrat takes us spelunking deep into caves of restrained, maddening beauty. Float is a driving journey destined for 3am party seances, rooted and bizarre. Sluglord takes no prisoners as the EP's darkest number, not for the faint of heart. Steptone is a spacious electronica weevil burrowing deep inside the larder of your mind. The release is brought to a rousing conclusion with Mesa co-owner Feathericci's highly danceable remix of Quadrat. Clocking in at just under an hour, this EP plays more like a full length and is suited for dance floor devotees, headphone audiophiles and casual listeners alike. It goes without saying that Revy is an extremely welcome edition to the Mesa Recordings family. Happy brain melting kiddos!...
