Someone sound the funk alarm . Bumper is back with the Get In Position EP, their second single for Homebreakin' Records! The Netherlands-based duo of Geoffrey T and Mr Pauli live and breathe sizzling, floor-busting electro-funk with one ear cocked to the classic sound and the other raised towards some sci-fi future. 'Get Into Position' proclaims the goal here: get all those people on the dance floor, ready to move! With its party-down sound complete with pitch bent synth stabs, vocoder squeals, and bop-gun bass 'Get Into Position' stakes its claim on frenzied body motion. 'S.O.S.' provides a deeper excursion into the boogie zone, rolling at a dubby jeep beat tempo while pad swells and chunky guitar make way for a seriously groovy bass line. 'Ten Four' then pops along at an Erotic City-esque pace, dueling synth melodies and slinky bass leads leaving the listener pleasantly within a purple haze. The remixes come fast and furious, with 'Get Into Position' warranting two fabulous treatments from a pair of global superstars in waiting. Home Breakin's resident Tad Wily blends 'Get Into Position' with a funk-flavored four-on-the-floor beat and some liquidy bass movement for a high charged version that blasts the cut high into the ozone. Jimmy Edgar (Hotflush, Items & Things) pounces next, giving the track a deep touch embracing muted chords, swirling synths, and sharp rhythms that certainly recall the techno sound of his native Detroit. This EP's a prime slice of gritty nightclub funk and another potent groove injection direct from Bumper and Homebreakin Records.
