Dean Chapple and James Daniels have had a busy year so far. With successful releases on labels such as Mile End Records and Piston Recordings, it is an honour to welcome them back to the Downpour Family. Conquer is a double-sided EP that features an original tech house mix from Dean and James, as well as a progressive techno track from our label boss Guyus Grey. The idea behind this release is to physically conquer the mind, body and soul of the listener with two distinctly different styles of dance music.

Becoming know for a specific sound that is both fun, housey and techy, Dean and James' Original Mix of Conquer takes the listener on an advantageous and bouncy ride from beginning right through the end. The main feature to the Original Mix of Conquer is its up-and-down baseline that runs throughout the track. This sound is reminiscent of classic tech house tracks from the early 2000s yet contains a contemporary twist. It evolves ever so slightly throughout the track going from a sub-bass sound to an acid-like tonality. This baseline runs alongside a percussive structure that is rhythmic engaging and irresistibly danceable. A bumping and grinding vocal hit grips the tune every so often throughout the track causing the listener to move.

When our label boss, Guyus Grey, received the demo for Conquer from Dean and James he immediately knew that this was a project which he wanted to attach himself to. Evolving his sound periodically throughout the past year, Grey wanted to see how he could convert a fun and bouncy tech house track into a progressive and melodic techno tune. His Vici remix is reminiscent of the old blending into the new via the hard hitting minimally percussive elements smashing alongside the ever advancing melodic motifs found throughout the track. The piece consists of an overture, four individualized movements and a coda. Each part containing their own sonically unique elements that evolve with Guyus Grey's progressive sound. Two main features in Grey's piece worth noting are the juxtaposition between the first and second movements to the bridge. Listen for yourself to how Guyus Grey combines a consuming trance-like melody with hard hitting techno, giving his listeners a journey of epic proportions.

With an EP that is so polar in its sonic disposition, yet so powerful in its musical message, an EP that offers fans of electronic music two distinct tastes via Dean and James' Original Mix of Conquer and Guyus Grey's Vici Mix, this release is sure to conquer dance floors around the globe.
