"Hailing from Funkytown Groningen in the Netherlands, 18-year old Rene van Munster, or Reinhardt Wilhelm Gabriel v. M. as he is known to some, was born into a completely music-crazy family, where, under the guidance of his father, Rene was turned on and tuned into playing all sorts of music; saxophone and cello being his instruments of choice.
Noodle-obsessed and fun-loving, ready to embrace the musical universe with all it enthalls, René turned out to be a little different from the other fellas in the youth orchester - just like his peer Brabe! Brabe shared his vision, and together, they ventured out to to change the fidget world forever. They got into making all kinds of sounds, ranging from jazz to drum’n’bass, and grew to understand it was necessary for them to delve even deeper into the spectrum of electronic music... in their case: wonky fidget house music...
Brabe would mutate into his partner in crime when it came to cranking out wobly wobbly tunage. Together, they produce stuff under the moniker The Bootilickers. Drawing loads of inspiration from Dubsided & Co - Trevor Loveys, Switch, Olli $ and of course Jesse Rose -, Rene also started banging out his own material.
Locked up in his bedroom he fidgeted and frickeled until he got his tight little ideas - very much in the vain of his great inspirators, yet full of little surprises, hooks and twists that make his productions special - squeezed into new shapes and sounds that soon travelled into the outer world and saw release on labels such as Downsouth, Beautycase, Prompt Digital, and Two Tracker, the latest label to have snapped up this up-and-coming producer who is responsible for its first release.
“You Like” is a wonky jolly good track that noodles wiggly ears and windy windy boodies whole oogling at your best mate’s girl’s beer. Right. It’s about pranky stuff and good vibes ram-packed in a tight arrangement in a slightly abstract context, squeezing in dirty disco references as well for a little decontrol.
On the same (sic!) side, “You Like” gets reworked by Two Tracker’s very own The CTL. The CTL are a boy band consisting of Christian Hammerschmidt, Julian Lentz (both of Religio.Audio fame) and TFE’s Tobias Koch. A crazy band outfit to give the track that very special fidget paranoia! Who’s laughing on the dancefloor.
Two Tracker’s basic philosophy is to cram in two tracks on one side which enables the label people to bang out crisp little mini sandwich EPs whenever a coupla tracks need to truck down the highway to daaaance. Rollin!!!
