Serene City Records are proud to present SCR020 from the big man himself Zemon, An introduction isn't really needed but we'll give one anyway. With an impressive back catalogue on big labels such as the infamous Northern Line Records, 3000 Bass and Highly Swung Records you know Zemon brings the fire.
Zemon is already known as Serene City Family after his debut track 'Scream for Daddy' on our incredibly popular Refractions LP which dropped last year and held its own with some other big numbers on the release.
The Early Bird EP is two tracks of up-front forward thinking UK Garage with a very unique yet catchy vibe only Zemon can pull off. Creatively maintaining that dance floor appeal of a classic old school track but infusing it with some modern futuristic garage.
Track 1, Early bird. Kicking off with some extremely skippy drums which we love, interweaving with a stab to give the listener a lovely little teaser into the tracks direction and tempo. Slowing down moving into the breakdown/build-up for the drop. With some very pretty early morning keys dancing around a smooth as you like sub bass that does nothing but make you smile! Then those infectiously skippy drums come back in with full force moving around ever so easily with that subtle yet dominant warm sub bass. In our eyes it's a perfect summer morning garage banger! That's until the bass switch then it fires you right into that nightclub roof terrace smoking area. 10/10 from us and what a way to get this EP started.
Track 2 of 2, Pursuit. When first listening to this it gives us a slight dub/reggae feel to it which can only be a good thing. Fantastic keys and samples working together to move this track forward with some masterful melodies throughout. When that infectious baseline comes in we can't stop nodding along. Zemon manages to do so much with so little literally drums and a bass line and the track is finished! With various little elements throughout including a section when the keys come back in which makes the dancing only get stronger! And just wait for the second drop we're not going to say too much but its seriously aggy.
