Music about finding beauty in the slow, the patient and the contemplative, but also in the imperfect and fragile. It arose from a need to rest from beats, grooves and intricate rhythms, as a calmer musical state to be in.
A little something about the tracks:
'Monaderna' is a musical illustration of how I imagine the philosopher Leibniz's proposed basic substances of all existence, the monads, dancing around in complete harmony, in the best of all possible worlds.
'Ugly Beauty' - About seeing the beauty in the awkward, in paradoxes, even in the disturbing.
'Significant Other' contemplates the freedom from desire of changing a loved one and is inspired by a quote by Thich Nhat Hanh: 'You must love in such a way, that the person you love feels free'.
'Slowdown' - About letting intellectual and emotional processes take their time, no matter how long it might be. Patience is everything.
'Simpleton' - With this piece I wanted to fully appreciate, and rest in, just one simple idea.
'Opening' - Beyond this idea is another idea. The last track of the album opens the door to what might come next, a yet to be discovered musical continuation.
