Lightworks is a new record label based in London and for its first release is proud to present Ossie's Tarantula. The track was an underground phenomenon in London's house scene in 2010. First championed by Ossie's good friend DJ Petchy on Live FM the track soon picked up attention from the major players in UK underground music. Support soon came from Kode 9, Joy Orbison, Ben UFO, Untold, Brackles, Bok Bok and more - with Kode 9 being so impressed that he swiftly signed up Ossie for a release on his Hyperdub imprint that will drop later this year. Standing out from the plethora of undefinable 120-130bpm music coming from the capital Tarantula is truly unique. Marrying flowing african percussion with deep, lush synths the track weaves between sparse tribal rhythms and soulful basslines creating a schizophrenic feel whilst retaining a firm sense of cohesion. Funkineven picks up remix duties and turns in a perfect example of his recent adventures into acid tinged experimentalism. Deconstructing the original then putting it back together again with added gusto Funkineven delivers a perfect tripped out remix complete with a vintage Roland 909. On the flip Ossie shows further dexterity with Creepy Crawlies . Taking the confident percussive element of Tarantula and putting it into overdrive the track takes on a glitchy minimalism whilst still retaining a defined groove and purpose that is signature of Ossie's work.
