Shaken Opus' new Regress EP takes you on an atmospheric trip through the different realms of techno. The EP's namesake, Regress, is a track filled with ambience and percussive sounds. This first track on the album leaves you feeling slightly different than you did before listening. Reflection, the next track, pulls you out of the mist with fast-paced, heavy kicks and a bracing synth line which hypnotizes quickly. The third track on the EP is aptly-named Trioxide. Trioxide may very well catch your breath for a moment, starting off small and quickly moving into an angry, slamming assortment of drums, vocals and synths, capturing that oldschool feel perfectly. Finally, Labil soothes your soul and leaves you aching for more: filled with constant crescendos and haunting scaling patterns, this track pushes boundaries and leaves the listener hungry yet satisfied.
