The second instalment from the exciting techno imprint Initials Red comes from AF (nom de guerre for Alex Falk). Having proven his wealth of production skills on a series of releases from labels such as Proper Trax, Bleepsequence, Columbia's Woods N Bass and Berlin's Favor, Alex doesn't disappoint in providing the label with a solid slab of hard hitting techno.
Opening the EP with FZBZ, a typically deep and hypnotic number with hi-hats that provide a sense of urgency while driving the track into a darker space, just the right amount of low end grounds the track while setting the stage for the more twisted BRBL. BRVBL introduces an unrelenting and menacing energy that the next track TEKNOX takes full advantage of, plunging the listener into pure darkness only to have DMONLY provide a pads-driven atmospheric life line.
Perfect for the late nights and early mornings, Initials Red 002 is not one to be missed.
