Belfast, Ireland based DJ and producer just doc. aka Conor Doherty returns to CZ with the impressive three tracker titled One Chord. This one follows his last effort here with Syncer from towards the end of 2018 and is a worthy contender for being some of this guy's best work to date. With a love for the deeper Techno sound, Conor consistently delivers high quality with every release. Always a pleasure having him here at CZ and we've no doubt we'll be seeing more of him in the future.
As you might imagine from the title of the opener on this one, Percussion 25 lives up to its name with a focus on scattered percussions forming a cohesive rhythmic structure to the track from start to finish. Expect wild and varied percussions alongside a pumping kick drum with an industrial flavour. A superb cut that will most definitely be a welcome addition in any peak time set.
The One With The Bongos is a spritely techno joint, Punchy kick drums and sharp hi hats join a cacophony of percussions that layer up with expert precision to deliver the groove. A mesmerizing slice for sure, turning to surreal with the addition of striking piano notes that ring pleasantly in and out of tune. A dark piece that will slot in nicely to the more obscure, experimental techno set.
The title track, One Chord is up next and, delivers a powerful, dark and murky techno cut filled with gritty, raspy sounds and a constant droning chord that ebbs and flows as the filters open and close. Leading the groove is a tight drum section, hypnotic and driving with chunky beats and sharp hi hats. On the low end, rumbling basses lurk, teasing and taunting but not wavering, allowing that ever present chord drone to dominate. A superb deep and moody groove for the late-night session, no doubt.
