Van Czar's CZ presents - CZ Selection. Eight definitive cuts that are destined to blow your mind. Curated by the label boss himself, these tracks are what CZ is about. Some faces we already know at the label, alongside some new faces with fresh sounds. The prefect selection to boost your crate during the lockdown and plenty of fodder for when the dancefloors return.
CZ debutant One Man Groove who opens proceedings with the superb Journey, deep, pulsating Techno with a lush low end and hypnotic synths. Delicate arps contrast as the track darkens, settling into a solid groove.
CZ stalwart G-Prod follows with Arti, a solidly crafted joint with complex patterns intertwining to reveal a proper head down chugger. The chords roll effortlessly along as twisted arps hang in the background. Tight beats and a rhythmic edge make this a must have.
Ruben Losada returns with the dark and glitchy Los Antiguos Astronautas. Right from the off, you know you're in for a ride when the kicks are that strong. Intricate drum patterns emerge as sinister elements rise. Dark rumbling basses and quality FX make up this deep groover which will not disappoint.
CZ newcomer, Loxidante delivers the excellent Breathing. A tightly packed, rhythmic mover, the drum arrangement is superb on this one. On the low end, a deep, plucky bass works the magic as filtered chords create the atmosphere. The track evolves into a dark and highly infectious electrifying groove.
Backlight debuts on CZ with House, a powerful, deep and moody groover. Solid kicks and tight rhythmic percussions get things moving as a deep, droning bass drives the groove alongside swirling, hypnotic pads. Buzzing synths come through, transforming into bright hooks later on which makes this dynamic monster a floor hit for sure.
Label head honcho Van Czar is up next with the pumping 1993. Leading by example, Van certainly turns up the heat on this one, delivering a sure-fire stomper for the floors. Arena style beats lead as shuffling percussions form exotic rhythms. Phasing synths fade up, revealing a truly mesmerizing sequence that cuts through the darker connotations evidenced with the drums. A definite must have for sure.
Buben debuts here, easing things off a bit with the fantastic Myth Making. Fresh and bright are the first things to cross one's mind when hearing the chunky beats, analogue style bass and hypnotic arps. It's the chords that work the magic though, offering that chilled Summer vibe. A real solid slice of house music that will be a welcome addition in any crate.
Rounding up this superb collection we have debutant, Kev Willis with Airdrift Rage. Formed out of a retro theme, the vibe boasts a varied response thanks to underlying acid tones and old-school chords. Thumping kicks and bright hats are joined by rhythmic percussions, but it's that relentless buzzing bassline and contrasting chord arrangement that make the track pop. Top notch stuff.
