Connection Recordings drops its 18th release to date courtesy of Founder and Label head Declan Canning. The Irishman's extensive DJ'ing career spans 20 years, working alongside the likes of Stacey Pullen, Claude Young and Charles Webster before turning his hand to producing back in 2010 when he launched his own label Connection Recordings. His upcoming EP 'Can't Complain' consists of 3 original tracks that are all encompassing of his favoured tech-house vibe.
Declan opens the EP with his 'Can't Complain Break Mix,' showcasing some catchy tech house grooves and Detroit style influences through his crisp percussion. He introduces an ethereal female vocal, which he cuts and echoes over a punchy bassline.
Following on with his 'Can't Complain Beat Mix,' Declan introduces his elements one by one in a pulsing house style 4/4 time, creating a brooding and slick counterpart to his Break Mix.
'All I know' is another catchy tech house style cut that flaunts more of Declan's vocal experimentations. Laying a minimalist percussive foundation, his vocal samples are chopped and used as an extension to his retro synth pads, creating an immersive melodic line that blurs the lines between synth and voice.
