Our third release comes from enigmatic Australian producer Time Enough For Love who honors Close Records and TBM Music with his debut album. With 20 years of production experience, Mike Sims is the name behind an artistic project that defines both the evolution and the maturity of its creator. Without doubt Mike is a talented artist but also an obsessive consumer of music who has spent years exploring his special preference for shoegaze, weird indie, experimental electronics, noise, house and techno. This wide range of influences is obvious in his production. His melodies, rhythms and atmospheres have a unique character which give Time Enough For Love a unique sound and place within modern music.
Shakes & Shudders is an eclectic mix of subtle melodies, syncopated beats and hard driven synths. The result is both romantic and energetic. Summery and warm, yet noisy and moody. The artist himself defines the sound as lo-fi psychedelic dance but there are also strong melancholic themes.
The album includes slow (100bpm) grooves like 'Captain' and 'Graveyard Shift', the more progressive sounds of 'Background Noise and Lovers', the noisy techno clatter of 'Denial of Service' and even the casual swoon of 'Complicitly Yours'. There is even the weird analog arpeggiated solo of 'Good Girls Bad Girls'. This is perfect listening for a reflective sunny afternoon or the weekend party.
It is a great moment for a fascinating artist whose project has been brewing for years. It reveals a talented musician at his peak - Shakes & Shudders is a wonderful achievement and we are proud to present it to you.
