It is now 2 years since 30drop ambitiously kicked off their career by setting themselves the tough task of creating a sound of their own based on a revamping of the classic Detroit Techno sound mixed with the more minimalist and direct German Techno. To celebrate this second anniversary we are issuing this limited edition on red vinyl pressed on one side only for music lovers and collectors. It includes an unreleased track by 30drop and a remix by none other than The Black Dog the legendary band from Sheffield and masters of a sound midway between the experimentation of the early days of the Warp label as seen in their fabled albums: Spanners and Music For Adverts (And Short Films) and the most modern club Techno. Unusual Extremes is a demonstration of that evolutionary step 30drop is seeking to take in dance music. It is a Techno track with two clearly different interpretations as their tracks tend to have. One of these is clear direct and deep with a forcefulness for the most demanding of clubbers; and the other is full of nuances and landscapes that carry the listener away to an outer space containing universal hope on the one hand and the crushing loneliness of the cosmic traveller on the other. The Black Dog's masterful remix turns the track into something much more oppressive and resolute leaving no empty spaces acting as an overwhelming solid block hurtling towards faroff universes to convey an idea of dehumanisation. An authentic explosion for the most demanding of dance floors.
