A native of Portsmouth, UK, Spence Cotton (aka Nightly Closures) has been spinnin' vinyl since the 1990s. First drawn to dance music as a teen by the likes of Chic, Parliament, and Chaka Khan, Cotton eventually discovered Chicago House and Detroit Techno. An avid attendee of raves (the Empire Club in Bognor Regis, Ritzy's in Portsmouth), he soon found himself behind the turntables. "Lots of house parties," he remembers. After relocating to Canada in 1999, Cotton began booking DJ sets at two of Toronto's most popular clubs at the time, Nasa and Element. As club tech shifted from vinyl to digital and other work commitments became a priority, he took his leave of the DJ scene, but still puts in the occasional set at a house party or patio night. He has since
