In early 2023, a Melbourne producer with over 12 years experience started producing new tracks under the name SAMO5. Inspired by the likes of Restricted and Macon, he wanted to add his flare to the recent wave of higher BPM techno, fusing influences from the 90s with newer techniques. Initially started as a purely online project, SAMO5 initially gained traction with remixing memes, while occasionally releasing a more serious bootleg here and there. After taking a short hiatus, SAMO5 returned in 2024 with his take on the classic ‘Tell Me Why’, fusing fresh and vibrant vocal chops with a darker minimal techno inspired beat and gaining almost immediate online traction in the process.
