1 - BORN in 1984 Growing up at Thohoyandou Block F (In Venda, Limpopo, South Africa) in the early 90s nIpRo remembers getting exposed to music as his dad use to make him change/flip LPs from side A to B & vice versa whenever he plays them at the house. Amongst other artists from the 80s, in his dad's LP collection there was music from Ten City, Mix Masters, Brenda Fassie, Splash, Micheal Jackson, Lucky Dube, Phil Collins e.t.c which more or less shaped the way he understood music, few years after that nIpRo remembers often calling Radio Thohoyandou to choose Arthur Mafokate's Windy Windy on a show called DINANGELENI (Listeners choice) every chance he got because he didnt or couldnt own the cassette. At those times just like most kids he got exposed to so much music from different artists across various genres, from Snow to Tevin Campbell, Shaggy, TLC, R Kelly from Bob Marley to Colbert Mukhwevho, Penny Penny, Amon Mvula, Usher Raymond, 2pac, Angelique kidjo, Rebbeca Malope e.t.c. Around mid 90s nIpRo remembers the days when he use to sit at home during the day & staying awake at night recording music from radio shows & TV shows onto cassettes, he use to get into trouble for erasing or recording over some of his dads original tapes that he considered to be boring then. At that time Kwaito music was still new & dominating SA music scene. nIpRo also has flashbacks of the day he won his 1st owned Compact Disc (CD) by the late Tiny & Khanyo titled “Emotions” after he entered a radio phone-in raping competition on Radio Thohoyandou, funny how nIpRo didnt even have a CD player to blaze his 1st CD on, he got someone to put it on cassette for him, “no it was not piracy, Cause I had the original copy” says nIpRo.2 - THE TRIGGER TO DEEJAYING in 1999 he decided to get involved on coordinating of events at high school, thats where he started deejaying it was when house music compilations were dominating the dance floor in SA, at the same time one thing that kept him awake at night was figuring out a unique DJ name that he will be identified by as he does his thing on the 1s & 2s, A decision which he finally made. He got interested on radio, he did demos for the University Of Venda Radio A.K.A Univen FM,PasswordEmailArtist NameBeatport URLArtist Bio however the guys who were in charge at that time didnt let him thru, after a while he approached Divhani Dagada aka Flava Flavio (who had a show on the station) with a Radio Entertainment News idea, then Flava brought him on board, they did the feature successfully every Saturday with the show been the most popular on the station at that time, he became friends with most guys that worked at Univen Fm, Thats when he would also drop in to do mixes now & then on other shows. nIpRo has memories of when he would come back from Saturday school, drop off his books at home and disappears to go hustle an evening set at parties from fellow djs who used to hire out their sound systems at events. After passing matric in 2001 he moved to Joburg for studies at TWR (Technikon Witwatersrand, now UJ) where he decided to take his deejaying career to a professional level...Then the real dj hustle started.3 - GIGS: Over the years, Amongst other popular party places dJ nIpRo has appeared as guest dj, if not frequent, at top party joints like Roxys, Limelight, Monaco, Times 4, Turn „n Tender, The Palms, Midrands Shesa Nyama, Maroola Lounge, Zambezi Lounge, Raging bull, Migeroni, Thohoyandou 2010centre, Club Changes, Capital, Zouk, Selected News Cafes, Cappellos', F.TV'S e.t.c, on top of been booked at countless random household & private parties, He has played at various S.A.B, Brand House, Coca Cola and U.J parties/promos/events/picnics.
