Asafo refers to the traditional warrior groups in Akan culture and derives from sa, meaning war, and fo, meaning people. Of such nature is Asafo Weedamiah, poetic performer, formerly of Clarendon, Jamaica now residing in Orlando, Florida. In succinct words, a Pan-Africanist warrior and poet, who hails Marcus Garvey and Ras Tafari as foremost influences on his being present in this time for the upliftment of his people. Purposely and intentionally his poetry is biting in its word sound combinations and represents black liberation put to music.
