It’s easy to pigeon hole artists and to say they only do one sound, one style - sometimes it works for them, and sometimes it works against them. Twisted is best known as a producer of dancefloor DnB, and with his biggest tracks being ones that get people calling for the rewind it’s easy to see why. If you look a little further though, aside from his excursions into different tempos as Bogeyman he’s had a fair few more leftfield cuts find their way out of his lab - releases on New Identity such as Scurvey, Disfunktional, Pony Pleasure and album tracks like Daffodils and Trench Foot. So now claiming his first Allsorts catalogue number Twisted comes with two rollers in his own unmistakable style. ‘On The Back Seat Of Her Daddy’s Truck’ starts off with crisp clean beats, smoothing pads, light bongos and vocoded vocals which are then joined by some twisted bass and a distinctive tremolo. The bass and pads keep on morphing throughout the track keeping you guessing where it’s going to turn next – perfect for those nights on the back seat of….. Plays from Hype, Crissy Criss, Grooverider and more, ‘Out There’ is a much more minimal sci-fi tinged affair. Light marching drums, sprinkles of percussion and mystic auras fill out the intro before a deep wall shaking sub joins proceedings. One for the minimalists. Support from Bailey and Flight amongst others.
