Here at Definition:breaks we wanted to continue expanding the labels sound, so for our 42nd release we move into another love of ours - Drum & Bass. When Bill Vega & New Decade approached us with 'Meltdown' we knew this was definitely the right time to make that leap.. Having become major players in the Breaks scene in a career spanning way back to the days of Hardcore, and with many high profile releases, Bill Vega & New Decades' leap into Drum & Bass continues with 'Meltdown'. Their original track is a monster ready to be unleashed onto the most tearin' of dance floors. With its heavy basslines, oldskool touches, vocal snippets, thunderous beats, rawkus edits and a massive drop - this track is set to lift the roof off! Way back in 92, New Decade's imprint label 'Out Of Romford' released Andy C & Ant Miles's 'Dance The Dream' (as Desired State). Without doubt this helped set Andy C and Ant Miles on their way to start the legendary Ram Records label. As a touch back for that early opportunity nearly 20 years ago, Ant Miles, with his Liftin Spirit Records cohort BoneShaker, provide us with their version of 'Meltdown'. Ant Miles & BoneShaker tear up the blueprints of the original and switch up the energy to the max. In typical old school Ram and Liftin Spirit style, Ant & Rob twist up the bass lines and totally darken the vibe in this progressive hard hitter. Morphing stepping synth stabs collide with spiralling vocals and provide a formula to tear up dance floors worldwide. To complete the Drum & Bass remixes on this package we looked for some fresh talent to follow in the footsteps of the pedigree and history of this release. Nixus is a 21 year old from Ramsgate who has already had an acclaimed release on Regal Records which also found its way straight onto a UKF compilation. He has switched up the stabs with piano riffs and dropped out a new rollin' bassline that flows the track onto different plains and drops it deep into late night territories. To compliment these tracks we knew we needed some Dubstep flavour, so we looked to Sketi who has gained a reputation within the Breaks scene but has now has stretched into the world of Dubstep. Keeping the original elements of the track in focus and adding some serious bounce and deep subs.
