Spatula City 005 rolls out with a super-duper special limited edition 10-inch record from label heads The Sound Republic (Frankie J & John Mork), on an ultra-high quality pressing with full print jackets and 2 super-hot joints, making this a record for the collectors as well as the disc jockeys who have come to rely on TSR for slammin' dancefloor material. A return to their roots in funk and jazz, the A side "Get Loose (Take A Breath)" hit with absolutely crushing beats, a running bassline, and a sax bit that has every partygoer running to the DJ booth whenever the track gets played asking what in the good god they are hearing! Flip the cute little guy over for "Funkyard Junk", a tune that starts with a garbage-can percussion jam that eventually works up into some good old down home southern funk, complete with hand clappin', foot-stompin' hoots and hollers and yet another infectious guitar hook that can only be described as Good Times House Music. These two funky cuts still have a fresh modern sound while maintaining that good ol' Chicago vibe that sends the dancefloors into a tizzy. Receiving massive support from the heavy hitters of the underground, Raul Belmans, DJ Mes, Diz, Justin Long, DJ Heather, and Bryan Jones amongst others were caning the hell out of this at this year's WMC. Don't sleep on this extremely special limited edition pressing of the fifth Spatula City record, yet another quality-minded release from some of the most consisten names in house music's new school.
