For its sixth release, Klasse Recordings looks outside it's immediate family and teams up with Berlin based duo Turmspringer for a stunningly cool EP. Well known for turning out many underground parties in Berlin and abroad, Turmspringer (Tim Bruggemann and Robert Galic) take their knowledge of the dancefloor and translate it into an EP that is aimed squarely in between the eyes of the nightclub. The title track of the 'Freedom EP' employs a restless, jaunty groove that plays around a driving bassline and demented effects. The centerpiece of the track is a electric guitar line that interacts with live drum rolls and shouts of 'Freedom!' and 'Can you dig it?', resulting in a track that sounds like it was born from an interstellar meeting between 1970s Woodstock and 2010s berlin basement Golden Gate. 'What Im Talkin' About' takes a slightly more heads down approach, whilst still retaining fun, energy and urgency. A bassified groove provides the building ground for wonky vocal samples, trumpet blasts and what can only be described as 'huge wobbles'....like 'Freedom' the track makes great use of analog sounds and live instrumentation samples, which gives the EP a distinctly warm and human feel. Remix duties fall on the Klasse crew this time, first up Luca Lozano takes on 'Freedom' and winds things down (or up, depending on your time zone) into a slow burning balearic groover. Taking the original guitar parts and mixing them with feedback lines, the track culminates in a marriage of Rhodes chords and spoken word from Mr. Jimi Hendrix himself. Sacha Robotti challenges 'What Im Talkin About' to a one on one and the result is a groovy and solidly built growler of a track. Calling on his vast and in depth sample library Sacha pulls out the scratchy and dusty beats and gives the original a lovely warm analog sounding makeover.
